Why "GenkiJACS" ?
The word "genki" is one of our favorite Japanese words. It means something like "energetic" or "healthy" in English, but there's something to it that just can't be fully translated. Japanese people use it many times each day, asking 元気ですか? ("genki desu ka?") to mean "How are you?". It's so indispensable that it soon enters the vocabulary of almost everybody who comes to Japan. and you’ll often hear foreigners asking each other, “Genki today?” For such a simple word, its meaning is surprisingly complex. and symbolizes some of the uniqueness of Japan. It’s an attitude as much as a feeling, and at GenkiJACS, we’re proud to strive to be genki both inside and outside of the classroom!
"JACS" is short for "Japanese and Culture School". We chose this name to signify the dual focus of our school. We don't think just being a Japanese school is enough - students have to learn the culture at the same time, to be able to truly understand and use the language.
