Room-share with a Japanese resident. Staying with other people in the city gives you the opportunity to make friends easily, and go out freely, but still have a good level of privacy and freedom. In a shared apartment you have your own private room, but share the central facilities, such as laundry, kitchen, living room, bathroom. The apartments are usually owned by a Japanese person, who rents a room out to GenkiJACS students. Important differences from host families are that the Japanese owner may not be home a lot, and you are expected to take care of yourself.
Most of these apartments are quite close to the center of the city. They may or may not have Internet access.
You must cook all of your own meals.
